What I See When I Say the Rosary

“And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

~ Luke chapter 2, verses 25-35, King James Bible

When I was a child, my mom took me and my next older brother to church one day. I think I was five years old. It was a church in Lawrence, Kansas and it was not a terribly engaging sermon. At least, not to a five year old. At the time I had no idea why we were doing this church attendance thing, because it was the only time I can recall being dressed up in “Sunday best” and being taken to church. Mom asked us how we liked it. I said it wasn’t very interesting. Did we have to go back? We did not.

My dad was someone who had read Hans Reichenbach’s book in the scientific philosophy and would on occasion mention that things which cannot be measured are not physics, but metaphysics. My dad did not take any position on metaphysical issues that I can recall. Discussions about “what came before the Big Bang” would be short and purposeless.

My mom described herself as an agnostic. She would say, “I don’t know if there is a God, and I don’t think you know either.” She was also an English professor and she knew, like everyone who studies are language knows, that the two great sources of stories and expressions in our contemporaryEnglish are the King James Bible and the collected works of William Shakespeare. If an early American home in, say, 1821, had one book, that book was the King James Bible. If they had two, the other book was the works of Shakespeare.

So when it came to pass that I was a sophomore in high school, they offered a quiz for students who might find “basic English” a bit dull. I “quizzed out” as they say. I was found to be sufficiently conversant with the rules and the details that I could take some other course, but it could only be in fulfillment of the requirement to take some sort of English language course of study. Behold, there was only one such elective available to me, and it was “The Bible as Literature.” So I moved to the very back of the classroom where that course was taught, and took both semesters of it.

For the purpose of taking that course, my mom gave me a small King James bible, which I have with me to this day. It has meant a lot to me to have the same bible she read from, and marked in a few places where she was curious about some passages. I feel a very strong connexion to her, even though she passed in May 2014.

Learn to Work the Rosary

It was not my expectation that I would grow up to want to pray the rosary every day. It had no significance to me in childhood, I don’t remember seeing one in my mom’s possession though my eldest brother thinks she must have had one at some point as she was confirmed in the Catholic faith as a young person. Nevertheless, after my dad passed away in 2010, during one of our evening meals, mom insisted that she wanted to tell me about the rosary.

In 2005, in order to help my mom care for my dad, I had moved to a house about two miles from them. So I would bring groceries, take dad to medical appointments, and be available for other tasks. After dad’s passing, I would very often cook supper and eat with mom, do the dishes, and return to my house. I don’t remember exactly when, but it might have been 2012 or so, my mom told me she wanted to go over what she knew about the rosary. I had utterly no interest in the topic, but I sat patiently and she went through several minutes of discussion about it. I did not think much further of the matter until 2020 when Jesus told me to go buy a rosary.

After praying the rosary according to a simple book on how to do so, I asked a few questions. I was instructed not to pray the so-called Luminous mysteries added to the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary by the pope Saint John Paul II. Instead, I pray the Sorrowful mysteries on Thursday as well as on Tuesday and Friday.

Annunciation

One of the first events in the announcement of the arrival of Jesus, also known as the annunciation, is the news given to Zacharias in the Second Temple, as he is preparing at the incense altar, by the archangel Gabriel. Zacharias is told that his wife Elishabeth will conceive and bear the child who would become John the Baptist. Zacharias expresses doubt, because of his age and his wife being “well-stricken in years.” Because he does not believe Gabriel, Zacharias is made mute until the naming day of the child (at the time of the child’s circumcision).

Now, it is important to realise that the Virgin Mary was consecrated to the temple in Jerusalem and so would have been familiar with Elishabeth and Zacharias. Indeed, we know that Mary visits Elishabeth a little bit later. Mary is chosen to be released from service at the temple and become eligible for marriage. Joseph is one of the young men who are asked to place his staff among those who are to be considered for Mary as her husband. When the priest picks up each of the other staffs, nothing happens, but when he picks up Joseph’s staff, a dove flies out. So Mary and Joseph are betrothed.

In this context, Mary is informed by Gabriel that she is chosen by God to conceive by the Holy Spirit. Instead of expressing doubts, she simply describes herself as the hand maiden of God. Similarly, Joseph is given the news, and is at peace with it.

When I say the first decade of the rosary celebrating the joyful mysteries, I see Zacharias in the temple and reflect on his conversation with Gabriel. Then I reflect on Joseph’s selection. Then I see Mary being hailed by Gabriel and given the great good news.

About that Temple

It occurred to me one time to ask whether at his visit to the Second Temple in Jerusalem when he was 12 years old did Jesus encounter the money changers and the sellers of birds for sacrifice? The answer was yes. When he visits Jerusalem again later in life, Jesus sees a woman who was “taken in adultery” brought to the Temple to be stoned. There is enough dust on the floor that Jesus gets down and writes in it. So, to say that I visualise or see things as they were in those days is to say that I see the Temple not in good repair, not being kept clean, not being kept according to the commandments given Moses and Aaron for how the priests and how the holy objects are to be kept.

One might choose to explain away these issues by saying, well, Herod was king of Judaea and Judaea was merely a province of Rome, and of course Rome made a lot of demands on its provinces, and that would be true. True indeed. But it is also the truth that the Herod we see portrayed in scripture and in other historical writings of the period is a corrupt and decadent man.

An event not focused upon during the meditations of the rosary is called the massacre of the innocents, when Herod, having heard from the Magi that “this day a king is born in Israel” ordered all the male children under the age of two years old be killed. Before that happens, an angel appears to Joseph and urges him to take the child and Mary and flee into Egypt. So, Herod had wealth and power, he had men at his command willing to slaughter children, and yet the Temple was in disrepair.

Nor does it take great wealth to sweep the dust and dirt away. It takes effort, and devout people might have put in the effort. So what were they doing, the Judaeans? Apparently, setting exorbitant prices for sacrificial animals, cornering the market on Temple shekels to profit from their exchange with Roman coins, and doing any number of other things, instead of keeping the house of God in good shape, or at least tidy.

Visitation

After the experiences of the annunciation, Joseph and Mary go to visit Zacarias and Elishabeth. At this point in time, Elishabeth is about 6 months pregnant with the child who becomes John the Baptist. Mary has conceived of the Holy Spirit. When Elishabeth hears Mary call to her upon entering Elishabeth’s home, the baby moves within her womb, John the Baptist “leaps for joy” within his mom.

You can, and I often do, reflect that Zacarias is still mute. It’ll be three more months until John is born and then 8 days until the circumcision and naming of the child. So Joseph, a good man, probably lets the ladies have some time to themselves and goes and sits with his friend Zacarias, asks a few questions and gets nods of the head, or maybe Zacarias writes something down and passes it across the table. Maybe they sit and drink some herbal tea together.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the house, Mary and Elishabeth are having a nice chat about pregnancy and angelic visitations and all the curious things that have been happening recently. It is not every day that the man who prepares the incense altar is visited by the archangel Gabriel and struck mute.

No doubt Mary is fascinated to see her good friend in this condition, especially as Elishabeth is “well-stricken in years” and also especially because Mary has been told that she will give birth. You can see Mary putting her hand on the big belly of her friend and thinking about her own shape in a few months. I suppose the same has been true of hominids for a million or more years, if you think about it.

With Zacarias made mute, the annunciation is not a mystery without some difficulty, though it is clearly an unalloyed blessing for Mary. The visitation, however, has the feeling of a goodness about it, people going about a nice time, choosing to visit one another, at home, in a spirit of joy.

Nativity

It is difficult in some rural districts and in many suburbs, and even still in a few cities, at Christmas time, to go very far without encountering a nativity scene. Store windows in New York City used to carry Christmas celebrations of the birth of Jesus, his mom very proud and happy, the angel telling the shepherds the good news, the Magi coming with their gifts. I suppose this past Christmas, with all the lockdown and nonsense, many nativity scenes were missing from their usual places.

The very essence of this story is that Mary gives birth to Jesus. It is said that the birth was painless. Nevertheless, it was her first child, and it must have been overwhelming to be told that Caesar had commanded everyone to go to their places of birth. So Joseph takes Mary to the little town of Bethlehem and because of the sudden influx of people for the census, there is no room at the inn. What would it be like giving birth in a poorly lit stable near an inn in a small town two thousand years ago?

I’ve no idea, but I see the joy in Mary’s eyes when she holds the baby Jesus. I see the manger and the angelic light shining all around. I see the sheperds with their flocks where they lay being given good news of great joy by an angel. This day a child is born!

Presentation

At the beginning of this essay is a quote from the book of Luke. It explains who Simeon is, how he was promised that before he died he would see the Messiah. It explains how he prophesies not only the difficulties ahead of Jesus, but that a sword of sorrow would pierce the soul of Mary.

It is my experience of praying the rosary that the key to the rosary is the sword of sorrow. One of the devotions that I pray every day is the seven sorrows of Saint Mary.

Mother Mary is said to have experienced seven enormous sorrows, sorrows of great magnitude. These are the prophecy of Simeon, the flight into Egypt, the losing of Jesus at the Temple while Joseph and Mary and the other children headed back to Nazareth, the experience of seeing Jesus carrying the cross and then following him to the execution grounds, witnessing the crucifixion, the taking down of the body of Jesus which is memorialised in the Pieta statue, and, finally, burying her son Jesus.

Understanding the rosary meditations is understanding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the experiences of Mary in being told of the conception, visiting her friend, giving birth, learning her child was the Messiah, losing her child in the big city, the sufferings of Jesus under Pontius Pilate, his crucifixion, death, resurrection, ascension, the descent of the Holy Spirit, the assumption of Mary into heaven, and her coronation. Every aspect of these two lives, the life of Mother Mary and the life of Jesus Christ, is significant to our understanding of the covenant between God and mankind.

When I see the Temple at the time of the presentation, I imagine St. Joseph inside bargaining for two turtledoves to sacrifice, then bringing them to the priest. Meanwhile, Mary is caring for Jesus. Simple things like nursing and changing the swaddling clothes are important parts of the life of every baby.

Simeon approaches, filled with the Holy Spirit, knowing that he is finally going to be granted the opportunity to see the Messiah. He holds the baby gently and he lets Mary know what is so, and the consequences for Jesus and for Mary. Through these events, the hearts of many will be revealed. Through our meditations on these events, we see into the fundamental mysteries.

Then Mary goes somewhat away from Simeon with Jesus and along comes the prophetess Anna who is also filled with certainty that this is indeed the Messiah. Anna is reported to be of great age, a widow, and having great devotion to communing with God at the Temple. I’m sure she gave consolation, comfort, and many smiles to Mary and Jesus.

Finding Jesus

The final mystery of the first five decades of the full rosary is known variously as losing Jesus at the Temple or finding Jesus at the Temple. The sorrow for Mary and Joseph was certainly at the point where they were about a day away from Jerusalem, on their way back to Nazareth, and where is Jesus?

Their twelve-year-old son is missing. The caravan is searched, the baggage might have been looked through, you can imagine consternation and rushing about. Word is sent in all directions. Having exhausted themselves looking, Mary, Joseph, and the other children settle down for the night when it would have been hazardous to travel. Then they head back to Jerusalem to continue the search.

It isn’t clear to me whether these events may have happened late in the week so perhaps on their return to the city, its gates were closed for the Sabbath. In any event, they get to the Temple and by this time I gather word had been sent to them that Jesus is there.

It must have been a blessed relief to find her child there in the Temple. Sitting among scholars, Jesus is said to have been very learned, and to have impressed the others with his knowledge of scripture. Coming up to him, Mary no doubt expressed concern that he had not been where he was expected.

It is said that Jesus responded, “I must be about my father’s work.”

More to Follow

Indeed, there is much work to be done. Mankind should turn the hearts of the parents to the children. Stop the exploitation, rape, and torture of children. Care for them. Teach them. Love them.

The children should turn their hearts to their parents. Stop elder abuse. Stop the torture of the elderly at nursing homes. The human sleep cycle is 90 minutes, stop turning them every 30 minutes. Sleep deprivation is torture. Help them live, stop insisting that they die of fentanyl poisoning and overdosing on oral morphine.

Above you will read about what I see when I pray the first five mysteries of the rosary. There are ten more to go. I’ll cover another five in my next essay.

Until then, pray. Pray devotions. Pray novenas. Pray the rosary. Ask God to heal our world. There is much work to be done.

No other god …

My very dear friends Cathy, Ken, Albert, Wayne, Scott, Sean, Neil, Roger, Mejakun, and all the readers of the letters to the editor of L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise, Albert’s letter is an exceptionally wise look at the idolatry of the state. The state has its Cathedral, and those who worship there were highly vexed with Americans went in and did what Americans do, looked things over, checked out what they had been paying for, wandered off with a lectern (one American took a stand!), stood behind the rostrum in a room decorated with actual fasces (look it up) and, horror of horrors, sat at the desk of Nancy Pelosi that they had paid for and put feet up on said desk. None of that is allowed by the oligarchs who believe they own the world.

Happily, the overwhelming evidence is, these are just really terrible people, the oligarchs. They have a lot of foolish ideas from Thomas Malthus and Thomas Huxley, and a lot of wealth and power handed down for generations, and currently are expressing their ambition to enslave all mankind and kill about 7 billion of us. They rape children, drink blood, and have other unclean habits.

Yes, the state, the bloody bloody government, is an artefact of human hands. It was set up by people for the exclusive benefit of a few. If you review the anti-federalist papers, always a good source of info, you find that the plantation owners Washington, Hamilton – who grew up on a plantation in Nevis, and Madison were key to the orchestration of the palace revolution of 1787. They were unhappy with the government of these United States of America under its articles of confederation, so they met, swore a blood oath of secrecy, and crafted a huge new plantation they wanted to build until it controlled the entire world.

And still they persist in ignoring God. God, and I ask that you believe me on this matter, is not ignoring them, nor us. God is working in our world, and all the time now. We will soon see many fruits of those works.

Those who seek to have all mankind enslaved do wish to set themselves up at the top of a hierarchy of control. They have been at this work since at least 1745, I believe, and there are documents such as the Emerald Tablets of Thoth and certain other esoteric information, as well as now-abundant archaeological information that there was a “high” civilisation 100,000 years ago which included not only modern humans, but also Denisovan, Neandertal, and Floriensis (hobbit) humans. Much of that civilisation was obliterated by the supervolcano at Toba roughly 70,000 years ago, and the main surviving branches of humanity, us and the Neandertals were still around 30,000 years ago.

There are texts engraved in a building in Egypt that list “kings” of various Egyptian dynasties going back tens of thousands of years. There is “meltwater pulse B” which seems to have been caused by an impact event in the ocean that dramatically raised global temperatures, melting the Cordilleran, Laurentide, and European ice sheets and, in about 40 days and 40 nights flooding the world and raising global sea levels by up to 400 feet in various places.

There are some who trace the numbers 33 and 322 in secret societies and who notice that there were a small number of scholars responsible for the two great works of English literature of the early 17th Century, the King James version of the Bible and the collected works of William Shakespeare, and note that key phrases produce, in various kinds of Gematria, numbers like 74, 33, 322, and even 137 the 33rd prime number. I note with intense interest that the Merriam Webster dictionary that was forced onto the American scene after the War of Northern Aggression changed the spellings of many words (colour, tyre, neighbour) with possible outcomes in Gematria. To say that there are people in our world who have been plotting and planning our enslavement for hundreds of generations seems easy to support, and I suspect that some of this stuff goes back even further.

Thoth, for example, relates that he drove a path into the “halls of Amenti” and found 32 ascended masters there, suggesting that Thoth was 33rd, and so the worship of 33 may be related to the cult of Thoth. I note that some recent esoteric researchers claim that the Tarot cards are a remnant of the “Book of Thoth” spoken of in ancient Egyptian
documents and building texts.

We who mean to be free have to be aware of these things, not because we have to believe exactly as one another, nor indeed is there any evidence that God wants unwilling compliance with a set of human doctrines, but because we have to understand what we are fighting. And what the nature of the fight has been and will remain.

Very near the first issue of this wonderful publication, the publisher and our great good friend L. Neil Smith pointed out that we are in a culture war. And, like any good soul, Neil has been emitting useful cultural artefacts since his first novel, The Probability Broach, way
back in 1979. Neil has done more for the culture war than nearly anyone I can name, bar none. And has been joined by many, many good people in fighting the culture war by showing people visions of how it might be if we were all completely free.

In my opinion, we are also in a spiritual war. And by that, I specifically mean that those we are against want to enslave mankind to the dark powers they believe in, the demons they worship, the Moloch that they claim justifies them putting their children into the fire, the Baphomet that they say teaches them to drink the blood of children. I believe there are cultural aspects to this part of the war, such as Peter Thiel trying to normalise harvesting blood from teenagers (he says with their consent) and Jack Dorsey of Twitter trying to normalise the rape of children. But these cultural aspects of the war relate directly
to the spiritual context.

My dad followed the scientific philosophy of Hans Reichenbach and my mother said she was agnostic and would say, “I don’t know if there is a God and I don’t think you know either.” I was raised by them and believed as they did, and did not invite Jesus into my heart until 1997. It was only in 2020 that I came to understand that the blessed Mother Mary is also a vital part of my life, and I began praying her Most Holy Rosary every day.

So please allow me to agree with you, Albert, that I know there are many people of good conscience who are not believers, either atheist or agnostic, and many who believe in other ways in the same aspects of reality that I understand as God the Father, Jesus Christ his only son, the Holy Spirit, and Mother Mary.

What you describe as atheists who believe in worshipping the state is consistent with the oligarchy manufactured “social contract” of Jean Jacques Rousseau (who was called the enemy of humanity by Voltaire, a contemporary who had reasons to say so) and the oligarchy manufactured “communist manifesto” of Karl Marx. I am sure that there are communists who believe themselves atheist, but there are also oligarchs who worship
demons.

The real issue is: they have now set up death camps in the regions most under their control. The oligarchy has determined to put Americans who supported Trump, who don’t wear masques, who won’t take the vaccines, who won’t obey the state blindly, and who are not the obedient slaves of the oligarchy in various kinds of “re-education,” torture, work, and death camps. They plan to work your fellow Americans to death to exact some profit and to exact retribution and revenge.

We, then, who represent the free people of the world, should build new freedom communities (VALIANT is working in many states and four countries now and I invite anyone who wants help organising and building for the future to contact me) and make plans to crash into those death camps with 18-wheeler semi-rigs and get our fellow countrymen out of harm’s way.

We own the rural districts. And that is a huge advantage. Power, said Mao, flows from the provinces into the cities. So does food. So does water. We free Americans own property in the high ground, in the rough terrain, and in the swamp lands of Louisiana and Florida. We can win the physical war, because we can move frequently and keep our ability to fight active for generations. Vietnam fought for 60 years against the French, Japanese, French, American, and communist Chinese empires, and won. We might be able to win in less time, I don’t know.

But we are in a fight, and soon, we’ll all know that we’re in a fight.

I invite everyone to consider the spiritual, cultural, and physical resources needed to win this fight. Think. Plan. Then prepare and get moving.

You don’t belong where communists thrive. You belong where freedom lives.

Ubi libertas, ibi patria, said James Otis. “Where freedom dwells, there
is my country.”

The Valiant and the True

“Josiah Warren’s disillusionment led him to conclude that social harmony required a radical individualism that he labeled “the Sovereignty of the Individual.” In his work Practical Details, Warren explained the meaning of this phrase: “Society must be so converted as to preserve the SOVEREIGNTY OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL inviolate. That it must avoid all combinations and connections of persons and interests, and all other arrangements which will not leave every individual at all times at liberty to dispose of his or her person, and time, and property in any manner in which his or her feelings or judgment may dictate, WITHOUT INVOLVING THE PERSONS OR INTERESTS OF OTHERS.” Thus, Warren planted the seeds of a fundamentally individualist approach to society, which was further developed by the next generation. His protégé Benjamin Tucker expanded on this theory, maintaining that society did not exist — only individuals did.”

~ Wendy McElroy, “I the Person versus We the People

This year has already been fairly exciting, and it is only 8 January as I’m writing this essay. Despite all the rage, some of us are getting ready to stop being rats in a cage.

This week I have been contacted by prospective investors in the VALIANT Community project in Oklahoma, been on Free Talk Live to discuss a Keene New Hampshire project growing up to join the work, and heard from a freedom enthusiast in Maine about two land parcels available there. The idea of freedom communities has never been more enthusiastically received, at least during my life. I also learned today about a parcel in the Paradox Valley of Colorado that would be very suitable.

Let me set that in a bit of context, which I think may be important. My anti-authoritarian roots include joining the committee against registration and the draft in 1979, being part of Students Against Militarism and Young Americans for Freedom at Columbia 1981-1982, and working very actively in the space migration movement since 1977. As Freeman Dyson once noted, “Once we get to the asteroid belt, the IRS will never find us.”

In the last presidential election in which I voted, the candidate for whom I voted was Libertarian party nominee Ron Paul. Earlier this century, I worked for his campaigns in 2008 and 2012, though I did not choose to vote. Since then, I’ve tracked how tens of millions of Americans have withdrawn from the system, not filing tax papers, not voting, not being counted in the census. Roughly 123 million did not vote in 2018. I believe in 2019 about 115 did not file income tax papers, and 95 million were counted as “not in the work force” though only 41 million were receiving food stamps – meaning that 54 million or more Americans are making it work without being “employed” in some coercive, manipulated, heavily taxed occupation.

Back in 1991, all my illusions about how the American system actually works were eliminated, destroyed when I was falsely accused in February 1991 of “felony gambling promotion of a lottery” because of a lawful sweepstakes my friends in the Houston Space Society and I organised between May 1990 and December 1990 to give away a trip to the Mir space station. We had a contract with Glavkosmos in October 1990 for that purpose. In May 1991, the state of Texas attorney general and the Harris county Texas district attorney agreed to drop the false charges, admitting we had been conducting a sweepstakes the entire time. Nevertheless, my business was destroyed, and my finances ruined.

During the ensuing thirty years, I have been looking for a free country. I concluded by 2004 that there were none, and that in order to have a free country one would need to be created. With that idea in mind, I had joined Courtney Smith’s New Country Foundation in 1995 when he founded it. He and I worked with Michael van Notten and Spencer MacCallum through 2002 on the Somali Free Port project and the Awdal Roads Company, but it was not possible to build a free port in Africa where we wanted to do so.

In 2004, at a meeting in Three Forks Montana, I helped draft the declaration of independence of the Free Mountain West. I continue to believe that the mountain communities of North America are the best hope for freedom. The spirit of the frontier and the determination of free people make these great places to live. Accordingly, I am focused mainly on Appalachia, Ozarkia, and Cordilleria for new freedom communities. I believe that by creating a network of these places, we will be able to build a free society, a voluntary social order, many new businesses, and a culture of individual liberty. No other place in the world that I’ve been is even close in terms of readiness to build freedom.

How it started: Voluntaryists & Agorists Living In Absolute Non-Aggression Today (VALIANT)

A memorial to Spencer MacCallum and some more details: VALIANT Too

A look at Howard Lichtman’s project for New Hampshire and beyond: The Art of Liberty

Which States, Though?

Below is a map that I’ve presented several times, which I think is worth seeing again.

As you can see, places like Maryland, New Jersey, Hawai’i, big cities in New York state, and coastal California are extremely unlikely to be good places for freedom. Nor are the populations in Nevada and New Mexico as keenly pro-freedom as those in other parts of Appalachia, Ozarkia, and Cordilleria. I think much can be done in the bright green states above, which are “constitutional carry” states, meaning that they recognise no permit is ever needed by anyone to keep and bear arms.

Progress Report

Today we have a far more advanced business plan, about 50 pages, detailing the things we know about the property in Oklahoma and the people we’re working with to make it happen. We just today picked up a new team member, and accountant who is very interested in investing and living in the VALIANT community in the Oklahoma Ozarks.

Our chief engineer, Mike Swatek, has done great work laying out the lots, identifying the issues with the property, and showing where the existing ATV paths can be best made into roads for the community. We’ve identified costs and opportunities related to developing the front of the property for a bed and breakfast, an agorist market, a campground, RV pull-throughs, and self storage sheds. We’re looking at moving forward swiftly in coming weeks.

Meanwhile, we are also very happy to provide consulting and support services to anyone seeking to build a freedom community near themselves. In fact, I think the team in the Keene, New Hampshire area has nearly all the skills to implement the VALIANT project plan there, on the 70 acres we’ve located across the road from the gun club. So it should be possible to move forward quickly there and in many other places.

Some of those other places: Vancouver Island near Nanaimo; Alberta, Canada near Edmonton; Saskatchewan, Canada; Ontario, Canada north of Toronto; Maine; New Hampshire; Colorado; Montana; North Dakota; South Dakota; Texas; Wyoming; Missouri; Arkansas; Arizona; Mexico; Belize. What about near you? Let’s talk! Please see my email address at the top of this essay.

What Next for America?

You’ve all seen the events of this week. Your interpretation may vary quite a bit depending on your personal outlook and views. I believe we have seen that election fraud is rampant, any process for reviewing the “results” of that election has been denied, and a very unpopular pair of Democrats are going to be shepherded into the White House at the end of January to institute an even more open campaign of violence against small business owners. Communism is being implemented in a big way, and there will be death camps near the major cities, especially in those areas shown in red on the previous map.

I don’t mean to spend my time building freedom communities once the slave camps are set up. I intend to spend my time breaking into those camps and freeing the slaves. That will involve working with big rig truckers and others dedicated to freedom. It is going to be a constant battle to get people out of those camps and uphill to free places. It will also be important to build freedom communities on a strong foundation, not on the shifting sands of expedience, which is why building on bedrock in the mountains is so important, literally and figuratively.

The war on freedom goes back thousands of years. Ancient sites in Turkey reveal that 12,850 years ago people lived in freedom. About seven thousand years ago, that began to change. Authoritarian rule became widespread. People were enslaved. Wars became frequent sources of profit for a few. Since 1745, the propaganda campaign for a “social contract” and a “communist manifesto” have been pushed, very hard, by those oligarchs who see their power dissipating with the advent of technologies like the pistol, rifle, and rocket-propelled grenade launcher. The revolutions in industry and information have cemented the fear of losing power into the oligarchy, and they have opted for a vast orgy of enslavement and mass murder now in process.

To win our freedom and head out into the Solar System and the galaxy, we must be prepared to fight, to build, to live in new ways and with fewer rulers. We need effective escrow, effective dispute resolution, and effective decentralised finance especially of collateral like land and homes.

In sum, we need to build a free future.

Free the slaves. Stop the wars. End the state. You’ll be glad you did.

“Secret of the Rosary” by St. Louis de Montfort

“The learned Franciscan, Carthagena, as well as several other authors, says that an extraordinary event took place in 1482: The Venerable James Sprenger and other religious of his order were zealously working to re-establish devotion to the Holy Rosary and also to erect a Confraternity in the city of Cologne.

Unfortunately two priests who were famous for their preaching ability were jealous of the great influence they were exerting through preaching the Rosary. So these two Fathers spoke against this devotion whenever they had a chance, and as they were very eloquent and had a great reputation they persuaded many people not to join the Confraternity.

One of them, bound and determined to achieve his wicked end, wrote a special sermon against the Rosary and planned to give it the following Sunday. But when it came time for the sermon he never appeared and, after a certain amount of waiting somebody went to fetch him. He was found dead, and evidently had died all alone without anyone to help him and without seeing a priest.

After convincing himself that death had been due to natural causes, the other priest decided to carry out his friend’s plan and to give a similar sermon on another day. In this way he hoped to put an end to the Confraternity of the Rosary. However, when the day came for him to preach and it was time to give the sermon God punished him by striking him down with paralysis which deprived him both of the use of his limbs and of his power of speech.

At last he admitted his sin and likewise that of his friend and immediately, in his heart of hearts, he silently besought Our Lady to help him. He promised her that if she would only cure him he would preach the Holy Rosary with as much zeal as that with which he had formerly fought against it. For this end he implored her to restore his health and speech which she did, and finding himself instantaneously cured he rose up like another Saul, a persecutor turned defender of the Holy Rosary. He publicly acknowledged his former error and ever after preached the wonders of the Most Holy Rosary with great zeal and eloquence.”

The above excerpt is from ” Tenth Rose: Miracles” by St. Louis de Montfort in his book The Secret of the Rosary

My own experience with the rosary began in the Summer of 2020 when I experienced a very strong leading to go buy a rosary. At the time, I was still living in Dayton, Ohio, so I found a nice store downtown that had them in stock.

Upon buying a rosary, I then needed to learn the prayers involved. There are quite a few prayers, the most important of which were known in the day of St. Louis de Montfort. Those prayers are, the Sign of the Cross, the Apostles’ Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be, the Fatima Decade Prayer, and the Hail Holy Queen. It took me quite a while, not having grown up within any church organisation, but I have before the end of 2020 memorised all the words for these prayers. Or, any way, the words as they were provided to me in a guide to praying the rosary. It seems that there are variations in the exact wording.

For example, the Our Father, or the Lord’s Prayer, is given in the gospels. In the gospel of Matthew, chapter 6, starting at verse 9, Jesus says, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Now, I was taken to task by one of my friends, Venkat Manakkal, a spiritual mentor who had shown many mysteries to me at the Goldenrod Wisdom Centre in the Ithaca, New York area back in 2006. He knew that I used to work for astronaut Deke Slayton and in other parts of the space industry. And he wanted me to know that just because many people say “…Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” that is not correct. Also, necessarily, just because you are in orbit does not mean you are not in the earthly realm to which Jesus referred. Quite the contrary, in fact.

Venkat wanted me to be sure to know that I was not free to do improper things in orbit, should I ever have the opportunity to fly in space, because the same God rules over all. And, of course, I have been alert ever since to see whether the Lord’s prayer is quoted as it appears in Matthew, in the King James version – which I prefer because it is a word-for-word translation. And, no, the Aramaic or Greek word for “in” is not the same as the word for “on.”

Further to this point, there is a slightly different set of words in the book of Luke, chapter 11, starting at verse 2, “And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.”

Notice in particular that the last words in the version from Matthew, “…and the glory, for ever. Amen,” are of some contrast to the last words in Luke, “…deliver us from evil.” So, my own preference is use the words from Matthew. You are, of course, free to pray as you were taught. The intention is a vital part of the work of prayer, and praying the prayer that Jesus taught to his disciples is your intention, whether you pray from the book of Matthew or the book of Luke or words as they were given to you on printed cards for praying the rosary.

The Sword of Sorrow

When contemplating the mysteries of the most holy rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary, I believe it is possible to unlock certain aspects of understanding by considering the following thought: The key to the rosary is the sword of sorrow.

That idea appeared in my mind about two weeks ago, while I was praying the rosary. There are three sets of mysteries that I pray: the joyful, the sorrowful, and the glorious. I do not pray St. Pope John Paul II’s “luminous” mysteries, on specific instruction from Jesus. I pray the sorrowful mysteries on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I also endeavour to pray a complete rosary of all 15 decades every day.

There is no question that, for me, the most difficult part of the rosary is the sorrowful mysteries. These reflect the agony of Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemani, the scourging of Jesus at the pillar, the crowning of Jesus with the crown of thorns, the carrying of the cross by Jesus, and the crucifixion of Jesus. These events are meant to be called to mind, to be imagined, to be envisioned as one is praying the Glory Be and the Hail Mary, ten times each, alternating.

Let’s take that again, more slowly. A decade of the rosary is ten Hail Mary prayers, each said on the round beads that appear between (in the case of my rosary necklace) the St. Benedict medallions. Each of those beads is connected by a chain, and on the chain, one prays the Glory Be. So, a decade begins with a medallion, on which one prays the Our Father, and then a Glory Be on the chain, then a Hail Mary on the next bead, a Glory Be on the chain, a Hail Mary on the next bead, and so forth, until one is on the chain leading to the next medallion, at which point one prays the Fatima prayer.

That’s a very repetitive process, and like many aspects of repetition, it gives the mind an opportunity to think of other topics. St. Louis de Montfort in his book, The Secret of the Rosary, describes distractions that come to mind or that happen near you when you pray the rosary, as “flies.” You can, of course, learn to ignore them if you choose. So, then, if you are not to be thinking about your check book balance, or your last visit to your family home, what should you be thinking?

The goal of the repetitive prayers is to place you in a receptive frame of mind for meditation, and the subject of your meditation during a given decade of the rosary is a particular mystery. For example, from the sorrowful mysteries, the Carrying of the Cross by Jesus.

Contemplate what that was like, please, for Jesus. He had been violently scourged. The whips used in the scourging would today be called “cat o’ nine tails” and each tail had a little barb at the end which would rip off the flesh of the victim. Jesus has spoken to saints about his particular wound on the right shoulder from the scourging. Perhaps one of the Roman soldiers assigned this duty by Pontius Pilate was a bit careless, or over-zealous. Anyway, there was a large wound that was extremely painful and made the carrying of the cross more difficult.

There is the weight of the cross itself, which must have been substantial. It was Roman practice to crucify people on wooden crosses, as they had done to thousands and thousands of the followers of Spartacus at the end of the Servile War in which Spartacus and many others were killed. (There were several of these wars, because slaves do not like slavery.) Well, you don’t just take two small thin sticks and expect to be able to suspend the weight of a man from them. So the cross was heavy.

As Jesus carried the cross along the way to Calvary, there were many people weeping and wailing along the way. One of the most intensely painful moments to contemplate is when Mother Mary sees her son, Jesus, carrying the cross, bearing the marks of the scourging, and wearing the crown of thorns embedded in his scalp by the cruel work of those who pushed it down onto his head. Trying to imagine this scene gets even more intense when you come to the moment when Jesus falls, dropping the cross, and is perhaps knocked unconscious when the crown of thorns hits the pavement and one or more of its thorns is driven forcefully against his skull. Jesus is revived and someone grabbed by a Roman soldier from the crowd carries the cross the rest of the way up the hill.

Saint Simeon’s Prophecy

One of the joyful mysteries of the rosary is called “The Presentation.” It reflects the visit, after the birth of Jesus, at the time of his circumcision, to the Temple in Jerusalem. Joseph would have purchased two pigeons or turtle-doves to be sacrificed at the Temple in accordance with tradition.

The book of Luke, chapter two, starting at verse 25, has another part of the story, “And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

This prophecy reflects on the “sword of sorrow” which pierces the soul of Mother Mary. There is a particular devotion that I pray, the Seven Sorrows of St. Mary, which reflects on times in her life when she felt great sadness. The first of these is the prophecy of Saint Simeon. The next was the flight into Egypt, to avoid the massacre of the innocents by Herod. The third is the time when Jesus stayed at the Temple having learned discussions with others while his parents headed back to Nazareth, only to notice he was not among their caravan about a day out from Jerusalem. So they had to head back to find him, at which point he says, “I must be about my Father’s work.”

The fourth sorrow is the meeting of Mary and her son Jesus on the way to Calvary as he is carrying the cross. The fifth sorrow is watching while he was nailed to the cross, lifted into place – which must have been extremely painful and jarring as the bottom of the cross was thrust into a hole in the ground to keep it upright, and then staying there while Jesus dies. Saint John in his gospel notes that Mary and John were the only two of the family and disciples of Jesus who witnessed the entire Crucifixion. At one point, Jesus tells Mary to behold her son, the Apostle John, and tells John to behold his mother, Mary.

The sixth sorrow occurs after Jesus has breathed out his soul, when the body is taken down from the cross. You can see a depiction of this event in The Pieta, a sculpture by Michaelangelo, showing the Blessed Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus on her lap. The seventh sorrow is the burial of Jesus.

The Key to the Rosary

This phrase, “the sword of sorrow is the key to the rosary” came to mind, and one of the things I did in response was to search on that phrase. That led me to the book “The Secret of the Rosary” about which this essay is a review. However, the phrase does not appear in that book nor, as far as I have found, anywhere else.

Shortly after attempting to apply this key, thinking of images of the Sword of Sorrow piercing the Immaculate Heart of Mary, another phrase came to mind: A key is not a hammer. So, don’t try bludgeoning your imagination of the mysteries by hammering the meditation with a giant image of a sword piercing a heart, as found in many Catholic popular art pieces. Rather, focus your meditation on how the event affected Mary or Jesus or God the Father or the Holy Spirit.

For example, the Annunciation includes, in my meditation, the appearance of the angel Gabriel in the Temple while Zacharias is preparing the incense offering. These events are detailed in the first chapter of Luke. Zacharias is told that his wife, Elizabeth (Elisha-beth or house of Elisha) is to give birth to John the Baptist. Zach doesn’t believe Gabriel, because his wife is “well-stricken in years.” So Zach is mute until his son is named – a fact that would certainly have been known by all in the Temple, where Mary had been raised from childhood.

Think, then, of how God perceived the incense offering and sent Gabriel with the message about John’s coming birth, and of how Mary would have learned of these events. And, of course, contrast how Zach reacted with how Mary responded when told she was to conceive, “Behold the hand maiden of God.” Her husband Joseph was similarly faithful and humble on learning of this miraculous conception.

In meditating on these mysteries of the rosary, it is a good thing to imagine those events, the Second Temple still standing, the streets of Jerusalem, the roads to different parts of Judea, the Roman occupation which had not yet fomented rebellion. See what you can do to bring to life those days and those events. After all, somewhere in the universe, along one of the dimesions of time, those events are occuring now, and always: Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen.

Applying the Key

Throughout his book, the 17th and early 18th Century priest Saint Louis de Montfort gives examples of how the rosary has been important. The book is divided into 53 “roses” each of which is like a chapter of a few pages. Many miracles, blessings, promises, and suggestions are presented. Anyone who wants to pray the rosary and do a good job of it should consider reading this book.

The editors of one edition of the book wrote an after word that says, in part, “Having finished reading The Secret Of The Rosary, you are called upon by our lady to act and to apply these life-saving instructions in your daily life. The world is in grave peril from Communism, and the Church is equally in peril from the enemy within, who seeks to disarm her by suggesting that we should abandon the Holy Rosary.”

I think it is important to note that we are now engaged, as a species, in a spiritual war, in a culture war, and in a physical war. If you mean to win, you should understand the nature of the conflict. I believe that prayer is important to winning the spiritual war. The rosary is a good structure for prayer, consisting of 130 separate prayers for each five decades of the rosary, or a total of 390 prayers for all 15 decades completing the five joyful, five sorrowful, and five glorious mysteries.

If you want to know more about the promises and indulgences that accompany saying the rosary, even one time, you should read St. Louis de Montfort’s book. If you want to help mankind in the current war for our souls, pray the rosary. The salvation of many stands in the balance.

Art of Liberty

“Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces.”
― Etienne de la Boetie, The Politics of Obedience: Discourse on Voluntary Servitude

Last week, I was invited to visit Lake Havasu, Arizona for a gathering of voluntaryists. There was camping at Craggy Wash. There was a bed and breakfast in town. Nice swimming pool, but very cold when I jumped in. Nobody heats swimming pools in that part of Arizona.

While there I met some old friends and made several new ones. A fellow named Austin and I are going to work our way through Bennett’s Latin Grammar in the next few months. Another fellow, who goes by the pen name Etienne de la Boetie2, was also in attendance.

As you may surmise, he is not the same author as the French fellow who died in 1563. He uses a superscript 2, so one might say he is “Etienne squared” or “to the power of 2.”

His book, “Government: the biggest scam in history” is quite good and available online. I suggest you consider buying a copy for yourself, and give one to someone you care about. You’ll need to get some people up to speed quickly on how they have been deceived, and this book does a great job.

For example, pages 9 to 31 illustrate twenty-one examples of methods used by the United States government, the government of Nazi Germany, the government of the Soviet Union, and the government of East Germany, all to promote the view that government is needed, decent, acceptable, and good. In fact, of course, government is violent, coercive, unnecessary, evil, and deadly.

For example, page 24 shows ” Secret government, real power structure’s use of political assassination of rivals, whistleblowers, dissidents” shows for the Nazis, the night of the long knives and the killings of Ernst Rohm, Chancellor Kurt von Schleicher, and Gustav Ritter von Kahr. In the USA, JFK, RFK, and MLK were all assassinated, as the congressional select committee on assassinations documented in 1977 or thereabouts. Also listed, congressman Larry MacDonald, Paul Wellstone, JFK Jr, Vince Foster, Ron Brown, Gary Webb, Seth Rich, Barry Jennings, Terrance Yeakey, William Colby, Kathy Ferguson, Paul Wilcher, Carlos Ghigliotti, Jerry Luther Parks and many more.

For the Soviet Union and Russia on the same page are shown links to the 45+ assassinations by Stalin and 10 critics of Putin who were killed in various ways. For East Germany, the names Cat Falkck (a Swedish journalist) and Benno Ohnesorg are listed. You can spend a fun time looking up these names and finding out how the official stories in each case read like a lot of nonsense.

Then there are another 50 pages of examination of the ways in which the government is a scam, is unneeded, is hurting people, and has bad intentions. There is much here to examine.

Although I was given a copy of the printed book, and it is a very nice document, suited to looking through with friends and family, it contains a lot of links to other documents. Well, you cannot simply click on a link in a printed book. So if you want to follow the story, all the way down the rabbit hole as it were, you’ll want to see the digital document which you can use to follow the links.

Speaking of quotes from Morpheus from the 1999 film “The Matrix,” I just learned this week that the evil awful communists have gotten hold of the Wayback Machine and have eliminated the possibility of searching their archive for my old site indomitus.net from some jurisdictions. Happily, my VPN through Cryptohippie to Germany reveals the links are still there. See my “The Morpheus Proposal” for some additional thoughts on how deep the rabbit hole goes. The topic arises in part because Etienne-squared and I both recited some poetry at the gathering in Arizona last week. I read my Anthem for the Ama-gi which was well-received.

But enough about me. The next 44 pages of Etienne-squared’s book goes over things you can do to help yourself and your neighbours. One of the ideas is to distribute information about the nature of government as a scam.

That is possible with copies of the book, available from https://government-scam.com/cart/ and possibly other sites. There is also a credit-card shaped USB stick that Etienne-squared calls a “Liberator” after the famous WW2 stamped gun that some few people in occupied Europe received by air drops (and its more recent 3D printed version that made Cody Wilson famous enough to be entrapped by the government). Etienne-squared adds a white lotus flower to the Liberator gun image to indicate the zero aggression principle is part of the philosophy in which he believes.

Thick Red Line

If you believe, as I do, that paramedics, fire fighters, some sheriffs, and possibly a few police officers are not eager to enforce victimless crimes, are appalled at the current tyranny, and want to work with their neighbours to make things right, then you might like a related project, Thick Red Line. It is spearheaded and conceived by the another fellow, Howard Lichtman. It is a group that has gotten a lot of interest from around the world recently, because it is a dramatically different take on the “de-fund the police” nonsense being emitted by the Marxists these days.

Thick Red Line is trying to build bridges between freedom activists and free market oriented members of the first responders communities. I think it is a good idea, and worth looking into. Like all freedom activist groups, there is a need for raising money, so you’ll find an appeal for funds on the site.

Art of Liberty

Another one of the important projects Howard has proposed is to get information about freedom and how government is a scam to tens of thousands of people in New Hampshire, who were already in the state when people from the Free State Project began to move there. Howard calls it the “pre-state project” and the goal is to coordinate with freedom enthusiasts who live in New Hampshire. Done right, it would involve hundreds of thousands of packages sent to and distributed amongst freedom enthusiasts all over the state, and that means potentially millions of dollars would be needed.

At our meeting, I said to Howard that we don’t have time to focus on only one state. We need a global insurgency for freedom, and that means, to me, at least sixteen states should be included in that work, not only New Hampshire. So, I believe Art of Liberty would do well to set the goal of raising $90 million to do everything that can be done in as many states as possible. That is, yes, a lot of money, though it pales in comparison to the trillions being used to destroy the world economy, end the businesses of millions of Americans, and enslave humanity.

Which States, Though?

Well, to be candid, I don’t think Hawai’i nor New Jersey are going to be livable places for freedom lovers after this coming year, except in the somewhat nuanced sense that people live, for a while, in death camps. Shown above in bright green are the sixteen states of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Some parts of other states might work, too, and those would be found in blue on the above map, though I don’t think King County, Washington, or Cook County, Illinois (for examples) are properly the deep blue shown on the above map.

What I will say is that if we want a freedom network to get going, the time to be building it is now, and has been for several years. Happily, groups like Derrick Broze’s Conscious Resistance and Freedom Cells, and groups like the Caledonia group first announced in this publication in November 2018, have been building for some time.

Howard’s book on Government, the biggest scam, also talks about crypto-currencies, which I continue to believe are helping many people make some efforts to use alternatives to government money. I’m with EC Riegel on the idea that governments, because they produce nothing but theft and waste and corruption and death, are the worst people to be issuing money. The existing thousands of competing currencies created since 2009 illustrate, in my opinion, ways in which people are able to make better money without government. I particularly like LTC, BTC, and ARRR if anyone is asking.

Thus we get to the end of this review. I think you should support the work Howard is doing. I think you should get involved. Buy his book. Send money to his outfits. Join the Thick Red Line. Be a part of a freedom community, including the ones I’m working on in Oklahoma and Texas.

I’m told that there are people in South Africa who want my help with a freedom community, and I’m available to help. Also happy to pay commissions to people who book me gigs.

We are never going to get back the world we had in March 2019. I’m not even sorry, because I did not like how things were going then, and I’m resolved not to dwell on how bad things were for many people at the time. Whether you view those as good days or not, you have to see that what is planned by the oligarchy for your future does not include a return to those halcyon days. Even if you wanted them back.

We have been, I believe, in the early phases of a war since 7 October 2019, and in some ways ever since 1745. It is a war by globalists whose predecessors financed Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and believe they own and operate the deep state agencies of the GCHQ, CIA, FBI, and NSA. It is a war against you, against your family, against your freedom.

Keep in mind that the path before us does not frighten me, at all. Why not? Because I know that we are not here because of what lies ahead of us, but because of the path behind us.

Since 1745, the globalists have created Jean Jacques Rousseau’s fictional Social Contract, invented socialism and communism, hired Karl Marx to write about communism, started a world war of 1756 to 1763, a world war of 1775 to 1785, a world war of 1914-1991 (in reality) which included another world war of 1939 to 1945 and a “cold war.” They aren’t very nice people. They really want you dead, or enslaved, or both.

So to quote a favourite film: “Come with me if you want to live.”

Free the slaves. Stop the wars. End the state. You’ll be glad you did.

VALIANT Too

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.”
― Jim MORRISON

Mike and I walked the property this week, and he’s dramatically revised his vision for how the property will look when it is finished. We’ve added room for lots more freedom people, and greatly expanded what we plan to do with the front of the property that is next to the paved county road that runs past. Even better, we’re finding ways to avoid registering many activities with the county by using exemptions in place in their system of regulations.

It looks like we’ll have approximately 80 to 100 home sites for individuals and families, along with room for RV pull-throughs, a campground, an agora, a restaurant, a bed and breakfast, and self storage buildings near the front of the property. The design calls for several ponds, including some that are used as batteries – solar power during the day pumps water from lower reservoirs to higher ones and gravity at night runs the water the other direction to recover the energy.

Sad Day

Today I learned from a close friend that Spencer MacCallum has passed away. He died yesterday after a very long struggle with cancer.

I worked closely with Spencer MacCallum and Michael van Notten on several projects in Africa, notably a proposed free port for the Awdal territory in what now calls itself the Republic of Somaliland. Spencer had proposed the language for our territory lease agreement. Our goal was to create a new Hong Kong, a free city, within a broader free Greater Somalia. It was not to be. Michael van Notten passed in 2002. Spencer this year.

Those of you who wish to remember him should be aware that he and his wife lived near Mata Ortiz in the Chihuahua state of Mexico. They have a bed and breakfast there. I know that his wife, Emi, will miss him terribly.

Perhaps the best way to remember someone is to remember their work. I very strongly recommend Spencer’s book, The Art of Community, available from Amazon or on pdf.You can also read about his ideas and those of his grandfather, Spencer Heath, in this book about developing communities without the state. Spencer was also a champion of the ideas of E.C. Riegel which included the idea of competing currencies long before FA Hayek wrote “The Denationalisation of Money.”

You can visit the Heather Foundation web site which was created for Spencer Maccallum to discuss Riegel’s ideas here: A New Approach to Freedom.

Those who know me are aware that I can get pretty broken up about losing people I’ve known. Spencer and I met many times in life, and spent quite a bit of time together corresponding and in person. He and his wife Emi attended the 2002 world congress of Liberty International in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and we spent quite a bit of time together there. We also met most recently in July 2019 at the home of Alvin Lowi in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

I’m very sorry to report that at our last meeting, Spencer was in much worse health than I had imagined. He was much thinner and, I believe, in considerable pain when walking. I’m very sorry about his passing yesterday.

Those wanting some solace about this sad event might like my poem on a related topic. On the Death of Friends.

Why Leasehold?

Like everything else we’re doing with this open source project to create a community where may be found Voluntaryists & Abolitionists Living in Absolute Non-aggression Today (VALIANT) our purpose is to end the state. To end the state we must avoid doing things to bring it wealth and power.

You don’t own your home, now. You lease the ground it sits on and the improvements you’ve made to it from your county government in most states in the USA, parish government in Louisiana I guess. You pay property taxes, and these are “assessed” by a parasite who works for the county who is the “tax assessor” and may also be the tax collector. These filthy vermin hate humanity and want to evict anyone who doesn’t pay their taxes, and most sheriffs are happy to oblige. So don’t come at me with “I want to own my own home and you won’t let me” because you don’t, and your argument is tiresome.

Consider a trailer park. You own the trailer you park there, which might be a double wide or a single wide or an airstream or a mini-camper, or a pop-up tent trailer for all that I know. But you don’t expect to own the lot it is parked on, nor the plumbing and electric power and other features of the pad to which you attach. We’re actually proposing a lot more features and benefits, so you can use the land you lease from us to grow your own crops, have every other sort of freedom that the zero aggression principle is consistent with, and build permanent structures to suit your needs.

But, if we subdivide the land, that gets the state and county government involved. If we keep it all one unit, they don’t have to know what arrangements we’ve made. We’re viewing it as a sort of “religious” community in that the Zero Aggression Principle represents a shared belief system.

Similarly, if we register wells and septic tanks and all kinds of other things with the state, there’s going to be all kinds of inspections and detections and this and that. We want to avoid having the parasites anywhere near the property. So we’re implementing alternative technologies.

Buying In

You can help us get this project going by introducing me or Mike Swatek to people you know who would like to either live near Lake Eucha, Oklahoma (about 600 feet away, uphill from the lake), or people who would like to invest in a community for freedom lovers. We’re working on our plans and I’m happy to share the current version with those who email me. We’re here to find ways to make it worth your while.

There’s going to be lots of opportunity to visit and have fun together. And, of course, to plan how to cope with the state as it makes its final tyrannical push to get everyone under its thumb forever.

Free the slaves. Stop the wars. End the state. You’ll be glad you did.

Voluntaryists & Agorists Living In Absolute Non-Aggression Today (VALIANT)

“Society must be so converted as to preserve the sovereignty of every individual inviolate [and] it must avoid all combinations and connections of persons and interests, and all other arrangements which will not leave every individual at all times at liberty to dispose of his or her person, and time, and property in any manner in which his or her feelings or judgment may dictate, without involving the persons or interests of others.”

~ Josiah Warren, 1840

Do you believe in the sovereignty of every individual? Do you seek a place where you are not coerced? Not forced to align your actions with the dictates of others? Have you been looking for “Ancapistan” or “Galt’s Gulch” or a free country?

I have. I’ve searched the world since 1991, including travel in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia. There isn’t a free country. So, for many years, I’ve asked the question, “What are you going to do, start your own country?” Usually I ask this question in response to some complaint, entirely valid and wise, about some injustice, or bureaucratic requirement, or madness of the system we find ourselves in.

The question arises: where? Where are there people in large numbers who oppose centralisation, tyranny, abuse of power, and coercion? The answer, of course, is in the United States. Not everywhere in the United States, though. Rural and mountain areas have more of the freedom enthusiasts, coastal cities seem infested with communists and statists.

Appalachia, Ozarkia, Cordilleria
The three major mountainous regions of the United States include two areas, Appalachia and Ozarkia, that are entirely within the USA and one, Cordilleria which goes from Alaska to Patagonia, as one continuous system of mountain chains.

Currently, I am in Ozarkia, near Cherokee land, and close to some really nice lakes and hills. East of me are the higher mountains of the Missouri and Arkansas Ozarks. For hundreds of years, the people in this area have, like the people in other mountain areas, disdained government interference, made moonshine liquor, and have been used to fending for themselves.

For the last several months, I have been anticipating post-election violence, and I continue to anticipate that violence. It now appears that the election outcome will be disputed for many years, whatever happens in the next few weeks. If the electoral college votes this coming week, as expected in the constitutional provisions for it, or if it is prevented from so voting due to the legal challenges to the overwhelming evidence of fraud, there is going to be conflict. Those who want to destroy freedom, enslave mankind, and rape children will stop at nothing to be in charge, as they imagine, of everything.

Of course, wanting such power they are not fit to hold it. Further, their insistence on centralised systems and a command economy create at once an extremely fragile system with, built into its structure, the inability to find market clearing prices and, therefore, make the economy work. Their unwillingness to acknowledge the importance of small businesses, entrepreneurship, and free market principles does not prevent them from exerting significant power, harming billions of people, and delaying the triumph of freedom. But there is no doubt that their approach is wrong, will fail, and is deadly.

So, I believe that being in these hills is better than being near the coasts. And, very happily, there are many good people living in this area who are not only interested in freedom, but willing to work hard for it.

Provinces and Cities
It is something of a strange matter that the oligarchs and their sycophants, such as Barack Obama, admire Mao Zedong for killing 76 million persons, but ignore much of what he wrote. Obama in particular deliberately sought me out on the campus of Columbia University in early May 1983 because I had been active in one of the anti-war groups on campus that he profiled in his Sundial magazine article of that vintage. We talked for about ten minutes. When I said that I was dropping out of the anti-war group both to work at a job at a bank and also because the new chairman of the group was an avowed Maoist, he seemed puzzled, and asked what’s wrong with Maoists?

I said, “Well, you know, all the dead people?”

Mao wrote, and I believe it is in his little red book, that “power flows from the provinces into the cities.” You can literally see that in many parts of our country. Power plants are suburban or rural, and power literally flows into the cities. So does food. So does water. So do other resources. Cities embedded in countryside that is completely hostile to the city dwellers are like a hothouse flower. Conditions may be right for a while, but something always gives.

Thus it is not in cities that I expect to build successful freedom communities with my friends and allies. Rather, it is in rural areas. There is an area near Spavinaw, Oklahoma with access to Lake Eucha (the locals say “ew-chee”) that seems very agreeable to me. Several pieces of ground are available for good prices, and allow us to begin with 180 to 200 acres depending on which parcel we pick.

Better still, there are lots of people in the area who are dedicated to freedom and willing to work very hard. I’ve met with the Tulsa contingent of this group twice, most recently today 12 December 2020 and also together with the Fayetteville and Springfield, Missouri contingents in November. Dozens of good people around here are ready to build good results.

Land Planning
It turns out that one of my good friends, Mike Swatek, the man behind PPMSilver.com/Jim and other ventures, is experienced at land and drainage planning. He’s built his own home in the area acting as his own general contractor. I’m in that home today, and it is a solid structure, heavily insulated, and so efficient it is heated with a single wood stove yet over 3,000 square feet floor space. He designed and built his own mechanical water filtration system so as to avoid depending on integrated circuits for anything in the event it becomes necessary to use the manual pumping method. He has some excellent Faraday boxes for certain gear that will be useful in the coming time we face.

Our plan is to acquire one of these properties and put a bed and breakfast near the front entrance, with RV pull-throughs and a campground on the property. The rest of the land would be developed along the lines written about by Spencer MacCallum in his book The Art of Community which you can read by visiting ScienceOfSociety.net and grabbing the free .pdf. The main ideas include having unitary ownership of the entire property and negotiating long term leases with prospective residents.

So you want a quarter acre, or two-acre, or five-acre home site, we have a lease ready to go. You pay a deposit (say $2,000 for the quarter acre) and an annual lease payment (say $500 for each quarter acre) and the land is yours for 99 years or 999 years depending on what terms you like. Your heirs and assigns can inherit the lease. When you run the numbers, remember that only about 65% of the land can become home sites, under the best of circumstances, due to topography, the need for roads and trails to each home site, and other considerations. Yes, we do plan to make a profit.

You would have to agree to our “Zero Aggression” terms, but these are widely understood and highly regarded by our intended audience, the voluntaryists, abolitionists, and agorists of the world. If you need a refresher on what generally we’re asking, simply look here. Our goal is to make it easy for you to get involved, while at the same time creating a community of mutual aid.

We have people with many skills such as welding, bricklaying, construction, carpentry, farming, chicken raising, goat herding, dog training, software development, business planning, barn raising, steam engine maintenance, systems design, drone flight operations, strategy, tactics, healing arts, gunsmithing, marksmanship, library science, sewing, quilting, cooking, property management, drainage systems design, dam building, chemistry and physics, midwifery, child raising, teaching, accounting, and many more. The goal is to help bring people together who want to work cooperatively, with the understanding that some things people are going to barter, other things people would pay for with money, and yet other things would be shared on whatever basis free individuals choose.

VALIANT Rising
We want you involved. We want you to locate in our community. But we’re very eager to help if you want to build your own community near us, or in some other state or region. We’re enthusiastic about creating the new economy, the new concepts and strategies that supplant the old bad system which is clearly being destroyed by the oligarchs. We want a new system of voluntaryism and freedom, not penury and slavery.

Admittedly, those of us involved are not in possession of all the best ideas. If you have great ideas, let’s do things your way, too. But let’s see what we can build.

The time for debating nuanced positions of Austrian economics or Objectivist theory or philosophical mumbo-jumbo seems, to me, to be over. Hey, if that’s all you wanna do, be free, do your thing. But I’m going over here, and gonna be building. Buildings and communities and relationships and businesses and opportunities and possibilities, God’s will be done.

You’d be very welcome to come visit, or stay and build.

Where to Go When SHTF!

“We’re surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them.”
― Colonel Lewis “Chesty” Puller, USMC, Chosin Reservoir, 1950

It is widely regarded as a phrase from the Korean War: bug out. When a position was untenable, the soldiers would be told to bug out, meaning to immediately remove to a designated safer area. In some cases that meant retreat, in others it meant movement to another location not to the rear. Do you have three bug out locations? Or, where do you plan to go when the faecal material hits the rotary air circulation device?

Why should you have three bug out locations? Well, gosh, do you have any idea where the enemies of freedom are going to be when they get around to attacking you where you are? Consider the possibility that they come at you from the north. But you only had the one bug out location, and it involved heading north. Whoops.

Your freedom, your family, and your life may depend on knowing where you are going to go, being prepared to get there, and being in possession of every possible resource both on the trip and at the destination. Which means preparing, it means prepping. And, since we are still currently not in the hot war phase of what’s going on, if you haven’t figured out where to go, and where else to go, and where else to go in case both those options are precluded, then you may want to get on this matter right away.

Moving About
At the end of August, God told me to give notice at the place where I was living in Ohio. At the end of September and in the first days of October, I moved the things that were in that house into storage and turned in the keys. For a time I was in West Monroe, Lousiana, then Cuba, Missouri, then near Spavinaw, Oklahoma, and currently I’m in Baldwin City, Kansas.

Over the last six decades, I’ve been a lot of places. I don’t remember Daly City, California, but I do remember Colonie, New York; St. Louis and St. James, Missouri; the Meramec Caverns; the road to Alaska from Lawrence, Kansas; travels to Hawai’i, Taiwan, Japan, Macau, Hong Kong; a train ride to San Francisco in 1969 before Nixon destroyed the passenger rail industry; driving through or (in most cases) living in every state in the Union; travels in Mexico, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Extensive travels on several occasions into and through Canada.

So if you need to have some idea of where to go, I’m happy to provide discussion and advice. Also, I know people in a lot of places, some of whom have land, and some of those who are wanting to build freedom communities on their land, especially in Canada, Texas, Oklahoma, and Belize. There are a great many billions of people on this planet, and the evil oligarchs are only a few hundred persons. If you are reasonably selective and patient, you can find good places to go and good people to be amongst.

What to Look For
If you want to understand what is “the good” in terrain features and locations, you may want to spend some time studying military history, as I have done since 1984 with great vigour and deliberation, and which I did in a war gaming context from the middle 1970s. Lots of military miniatures, lots of multi-sided dice, lots of board games about places like Remagen and Arnhem.

Terrain features like mountains and swamps are extremely difficult to move through and offer enormous opportunities for getting out of sight in caves and under foliage, where movement is fast and easy for those who know the paths and the byways, and very difficult for those who just showed up on orders to invade. So if you are interested in surviving what is ahead, get familiar with people and places in the hills and hollers, in the swamps and bottom lands, where it isn’t so easy to move tanks and entire armies.

What about big cities? Yes, there are ways of hiding out in big cities. If you have never walked in the subway tunnels in New York, you’ve been missing out on a very noisome and disgusting experience. Decades of coal dust and more decades of urination and defecation have made those tunnels really stink. The subway maps are only useful to some extent, in that there are closed stations that aren’t on those maps, and entire tunnels that were meant to move the wealthy from their homes in Manhattan to other locations. Some tunnels are very deep, and some of these are intermittently flooded. People live down there.

During a war, one of the most unusual aspects of terrain is a bombed out city. For example, consider the 1942 attack by Germany on the city of Stalingrad. The combined arms approach to warfare, third generation warfare strategies and tactics, was well understood by the German military leaders at the time. But, they made a really big mistake. They sent their air force over the city to bomb it into ruins.

Now, that was a tactic of terror, meant to cause the opposing forces and civilian population to flee, and to kill many of them. But it was an enormous error because it put masses of masonry and debris all over the streets, effectively building barricades for the enemy to hide behind. Stalingrad became difficult to navigate with tanks and armoured cars and became a sniper’s delight.

On the other side of the river from Stalingrad are enormous marshes and swamps. Terrain that could be navigated on roads, and which provided hiding places when German air units tried to strafe and destroy supply columns and troop columns. Stalingrad is not a place I would have wanted to be during the war, but it was nearly impossible to conquer once it was bombed repeatedly.

Similarly, I would not recommend moving to a big city at this time, but, rather, to move away, uphill, and into the countryside. But if you happen to live in one and cannot relocate, or if you have friends or family who do, then research the underground aspects of that city. There are tunnels under Houston, which is only about 50 feet above sea level. There are tunnels for storm sewage and for human sewage all over the place. Get to know that terrain, because it could save your life.

In Warsaw, 19 April 1943, the Jews trapped by the Germans in the ghetto there rose up and fought back. They had captured a few weapons in the preceding weeks, they knew the ghetto was going to be liquidated, and so they fought. Thousands escaped through the tunnels under the city. The Germans eventually flooded the tunnels with water, and many escaped by swimming. Then the Germans added diesel fuel and lit up the tunnels, and that cut off escape. But, remember there was not going to be any mercy for Jewish partisans surrendering to German soldiers in 1943. Few did.

I’d also like to mention Sobibor. Of the roughly 1,300 who were in that camp at the time of the escape, about 800 tried to leave, 500 stayed behind. Every single one of the 500 were executed, the camp was demolished, and the Germans planted trees where it had stood. Many of the 800 died trying to escape over the fences and through the mine fields, but hundreds survived to the end of the war. So, think about what it would be like to escape from a death camp. Because death camps are coming, along both coasts and near major cities.

The best way to escape a death camp is never to be captured and put in one.

Fixed Fortifications
Which means that wherever you are, whatever your situation, no matter how well situated your home, no matter how well provisioned, you have to consider the possibility that an overwhelming force is going to come against you. Yes, you can stand and fight to the end. If you are dependent on medicines or mechanisms for your survival, if you are going to need kidney dialysis or liver dialysis, or medications they aren’t going to offer in a death camp and you won’t have access to away from home, if you expect to be dead any way, consider taking out the enemies of freedom who come in range, and consider blowing up what you’d otherwise leave behind such as supplies and equipment.

But if you have family to protect, if you have a place to go, you should make plans to bug out. Fixed fortifications, as General Patton noted some decades ago, are monuments to the stupidity of mankind. Every ocean has been crossed. The coldest places on Earth have been traversed, the deepest depths of the ocean, the highest mountains, and even the Moon has been reached by mankind. There are those who believe Mars as well, both in the ancient past and more recently, but those are stories for another time.

The concepts of 4th Generational Warfare (4GW) are not very difficult to understand. Small units which are highly mobile and take advantage of terrain features like mountains, ridges, caves, and swamps can evade capture, relocate, and fight again another day. Keeping your ability to fight intact means being willing to abandon territory for a while and return to it later.

Such tactics have been used before. Washington retreated from a great many battles before he attacked the British and Hessians by crossing the Delaware. Sam Houston did not take his army to the Alamo, but retreated from Generalissimo Santa Anna again and again until he found the “killing ground” he wanted at San Jacinto. Henry V carefully chose the ground for the battle of Agincourt. If you don’t have overwhelming numbers and if your philosophy doesn’t allow you to send waves of troops to throw themselves at the enemy (which, by the way, rarely works at all), then you need to choose the time, the place, and the rules of engagement for battle. And that means mobility, not fortifications.

No matter how cool the place is that you are willing to die for, the other side is willing to kill you to capture it. And, remember, they hate you for your freedom, for your temerity, for your unwillingness to bow and scrape and bend the knee and take their toxic concoction, and be marked by their beastly system. So, if you want to be free, if you want to come through this conflict, if you want to emerge in July 2023 knowing that the worst is over, do some serious thinking about where to go when the sh!t hits the fan.

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome when and where you can. Bug out when needed.

Prayer Warrior

“The phrase ‘battling’ the principalities and powers took on a whole new aspect, prayer becoming as physical as any piece of steel or iron they could wield against an enemy along with their holy water and crucifixes.”
― E.A. Bucchianeri, Vocation of a Gadfly

We are in a war. This war has many aspects. Long ago, the publisher of The Libertarian Enterprise and author of dozens of really great books, L. Neil Smith, pointed out that we are in a culture war, and if you want to win such a war, you have to have a culture. Very happily, libertarians, voluntaryists, anarcho-capitalists, and science fiction enthusiasts have a culture with many strong and great ideas. Vital among these ideas is the zero aggression principle. Also vital: the covenant of unanimous consent – a majority, even a “super majority” cannot impose consent on those who dissent. Ever.

Private property and individual liberty are inextricably intertwined, and these are so key that Neil coined the term “propertarian” to convey the idea that freedom works with property as a key basis for it. He also once showed how important it is to understand history as it really occurred, and as it might have been, by writing about a parallel narrative thread in the multi-verse in which a single word was changed in the Declaration of Independence that led to the disgrace of the constitutional convention framers such as Hamilton and Washington during the (successful in that reality) Whiskey Rebellion.

It is also a war with territories. The big cities are mostly held by the forces of communism and tormented by the oligarchs who claim total power. The rural counties and mountains are mostly held by free thinkers. Some of us are starting intentional communities. I like to describe these with the phrase Voluntaryists & Agorists Living In Absolute Non-Aggression Today (VALIANT). I’m working with many others on such communities all over the world and on dirigibles in the sky.

Spiritual War

You are also in a spiritual war. You are in a war against powers of darkness and evil. You have known this fact for many years.

You knew when you learned about Epstein Island and the rape of children there. You knew when you learned that the oligarchs rape and traumatise children, kill them, and drink their adrenochrome-rich blood. You knew when you learned how many of the prominent people in politics and business flew to Epstein’s pedophile island. You knew when you found out, thanks to the work of Professor RJ Rummel, that 262 million people were killed in genocides by governments and 55 million were killed in wars between governments, in the 20th Century alone. You knew when you learned that 78 million Falun Gong were kept in prison camps and harvested for their organs for medical tourism.

In Ephesians, chapter 6, St. Paul explains: “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

Prayer is a positive and useful action you can take any time. And a good time to pray is right now.

My Path

Your path is yours and yours alone, and I do not walk your path. You do. If my path is near unto yours for a time, perhaps I may shine some light on your path, and you upon mine. But do not mistake my meaning when I talk about what I believe and what I view as the path before me. I speak for myself, and do not say that your path is like mine.

I do say that I am not afraid of what is ahead, because I know that we are not here because of the path before us, but because of the path behind us. We are here because for thousands of years the forces of tyranny and injustice have tried to enslave us, have tried to destroy us, have tried to deprive us of our freedom. And I know what is most important of all. They have failed because we are still here!

When I was born, my body was a very yellow colour due to Rh factor incompatibility jaundice. My dad once said that I was the yellowest baby he had ever seen. Dad was a nuclear physicist and good one. I believe it was a paper he wrote for the Norwegian admiralty in which the term “melt down” was first used to describe what happens when a nuclear reactor’s cooling and control systems all fail. Dad followed a scientific philosophy, including the work of Hans Reichenbach, who viewed anything that cannot be mesured as “metaphysics.”

My mom was raised in a family of believers and for various reasons came to be agnostic. She once said, “I don’t know if there is a God, and I don’t think you know, either.” Nevertheless, the bible I own was given to me by her when I took a class on “The Bible as Literature” in high school. It developed that when I quizzed out of Basic English, that was the only alternative for me to take. So we read the Old Testament in the first semester, and the New Testament in the second semester of that class.

Since then, I have had a great many spiritual experiences. Yet, even before then, some things of a spiritual nature were happening to me. I had a waking vision as a child during an extreme illness that I now believe was Lyme disease, because it took place after a large tick was removed from me, and the symptoms match. At the time, that diagnosis was unknown, so I was very sick for about six months. Also as a child, I had a recurring dream in which I was flying through the air with another person, and was told that I had been “sent ahead.”

More recently, it came to my attention that as a child I found out that I could whisper both while exhaling and while inhaling. I remember a conversation with my brother Ken in which I showed him this ability, and he was impressed. It develops that today many of my prayers I say in a whisper, and I breathe prayer in and breathe prayer out. I can teach this technique if you need help with it.

Being a dutiful child in many ways, I accepted the outlook my parents held and called myself an agnostic for many years. I asked Jesus into my heart in 1997. I became a Quaker in 2018. I began to pray the rosary this year. And I have seen people healed, people saved, people baptised in water, people baptised in the Holy Spirit, storms called and storms rebuked. God has all the power there is, and God hears our prayers.

So, in some ways that would be surprising to who I was as a child, I have become very familiar with prayer. One of the experiences of the last decade, some time in 2012 or 2013 if I recall correctly, that has been very significant to me in recent months, was a time when my mom talked to me about the rosary. For no reason that I understood, one evening at supper, when we were alone together, after my dad passed, she said that she wanted to tell me what she knew about the rosary. I told her that it was a topic in which I had zero interest. I’m not sure how I expressed this thought, but it is my clear recollection that I was not interested. Nevertheless, she was determined.

So she told me what she had been taught, and told it in a way that I remember still. It turns out that her description of the rosary exactly matches my rosary that I purchased earlier this year. Also, that conversation was important in helping me to understand the ideas behind the rosary and to seek more information about it.

Right now I am sitting in a room with a wall paper border of roses. I’ve prayed the rosary six times today and plan to pray it again after finishing this essay. Yesterday I prayed ten rosaries. At times in recent months, I’ve prayed more than twenty.

What Is The Rosary?

There is a physical object, the rosary, which looks like a long necklace on which there are beads, medallions, and a crucifix, connected by chains. Mine has onyx beads, pewter medallions, a black and silver crucifix, and each medallion has St. Benedict on one side and a cross with the initials of his “Vade Retro Satana” prayer by which he cast out many demons.

The prayers involved are the Apostle’s Creed (prayed once, at the beginning, on the crucifix); the Our Father or Lord’s Prayer (prayed six times on the smaller medallions); the Glory Be, prayed 61 times on the chains); the Hail Mary (prayed 53 times on the beads); the Fatima prayer (prayed eight times before each medallion); and the Hail Holy Queen (prayed once, at the end, holding the large medallion). Thus there are 130 prayers. These are important and useful in and of themselves. For example, the Lord’s Prayer was taught by Jesus to his disciples when they asked how they should pray.

The rosary is also a series of meditations. In the short segment after the crucifix, one meditates on the importance of prayer and clears one’s mind of the routine. Each set of meditations thereafter begins with an Our Father, continues with a series of Glory Be and Hail Mary alternating and the ten beads being described as “a decade;” and ends with the Fatima prayer.

When I began praying the rosary, having asked God whether I should buy one and whether I should learn to pray it, I was told to pray only the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries, and not the very recently added (by pope John Paul II) so-called “Luminous” mysteries. You can read about these in any reasonably comprehensive work on the rosary, including the Wikipedia and the “For Dummies” texts.

The rosary is also a spiritual weapon. It is a weapon that has been used against demons and against spiritual darkness. It is associated with the Virgin Mary, the Holy Queen, the mother of Jesus, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, our hope.

It is she who has held her mantle over the world all these years, beseeching her son not to smite the Earth. It is her intercession that has brought solace to many sinners, surcease to many suffering, healing to many sick and injured, and many other miracles. She has asked that we pray the rosary, and that we pray for the souls in this world.

It is my request as well. Pray as you think best, and may your prayers be heard, always, God’s will be done. Amen.

The Lull …

“Once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through and how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing, is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in it.”
~ attributed to Haruki Murakami

We are not in the middle of a terribly violent storm, and for that I am very grateful. Americans are not yet fighting one another in street battles in major cities along the coasts and in some places in the middle of the country. I, for one, continue to believe that is coming.

To what do I attribute this lull? The uncertainty about whether the declaration of victory by the Biden-Harris tyranny is going to stick seems, to me, to be the key to understanding the temporary calm. I have taken to calling them “Dead and Deadly” but that may be unfair to dead persons and deadly organisms. Nevertheless, they seem, to me, to be claiming certainty in what was beyond doubt a fraud-ridden vote counting process.

No, I’m not now and never have said that any past election was legitimate, nor that I feel the votes have ever been counted fairly. Certainly there is extensive evidence of major and critical elections being stolen. LBJ stole his election to the US Senate from Texas, and LBJ helped steal the 1960 presidential election for JFK and himself. One could go on at considerable length, and any in depth look at the matter would go back into the earliest history of elections. The Stoic philosophers of ancient Greece used to say, “abstain from beans” because they did not trust the election process, nor the idea of taking choices by election.

What I am saying is that anyone with a pulse and a willingness to look can find giant holes in the hoax stream narrative about Biden “winning” the presidency. It was funny seeing “The 46th President of the United States” on the cover of Time magazine at a grocery store a couple days ago, because, gosh, when has Time ever told the truth? lol

Statesmanlike Speech?
I don’t think Trump’s role, assuming he is live action role playing for the oligarchy, allows for him to make a statesmanlike speech and bow out. I believe that if he’s LARPing for oligarchs, his role is to be the “grey champion” in the Fourth Turning, and to claim re-election. If he is sincere, and I concede that he may be, there is certainly extensive evidence of fraud and a reasonable case can be made that he has won re-election.

Either way, the scenario of a “failed state” is playing out, and the oligarchs are, in my opinion, moving their game pieces around right now, getting ready for the hot war. In early December, a case will be announced for the electoral votes Trump needs, and after the electors cast their ballots 14 December, and these results are certified by the several states, all hell would break loose. If you aren’t where you want to be for a while after that, you may have difficulty re-locating. Your property in or near a big city is going to be reduced in value in the event of truly staggering levels of violence.

Where to Go?
As is often the case, I am at some risk of sounding like a broken record. Nevertheless, I persist in believing that Americans are most likely to survive by being in the hills and mountains of the Appalachians, Ozarks, and Rocky mountain sets of ranges. And worst off in coastal cities, especially where Marxists have dominated the political scene over the Summer. Your mileage will inevitably vary.

A reasonable question would be: Where are you, Jim? Up until early September, the answer was, Dayton, Ohio. Today the answer is: in the Ozarks, quite near where my grandmother was born in 1903. At this very moment, I am with friends in the Oklahoma Ozarks, between Fayetteville, Arkansas and Tulsa. All in through these hills are Cherokee people. The terrain is heavily wooded, rich in game, well watered, mild in Winter, and difficult for movement off the roads. There are, however, a great many well-paved roads.

Earlier today, several groups from the region met here and discussed correspondence, Agorist Delivery Services Decentralised Autonomous Organisation, and the building of a small intentional community. Such gatherings are important for getting to know one another and building networks of trust. Some here are active in the Caledonia tribe first described by Sonora Jack in these pages. Jack himself attended this meeting and has wandered on toward another coming soon.

The point was made a long time ago by Edmund Burke. When bad men combine, the good must associate, he wrote, or they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle. The struggle for freedom is not, of course contemptible, but the refusal to work with anyone else makes it ever so much more difficult. Burke was a man of mixed blessings, I think, some good ideas interspersed with some major blind spots. In any event, we are in times that call for considerable attention to preparations. If you are not yet prepared, you should get that way, soon.

My Beliefs
Spiritually, I believe that very difficult events were set in motion in October 2019. I believe that the man calling himself “Pope Francis” put an abomination in a sacred place. The abomination was a wood idol of Pachamama and the sacred place was the church of Santa Maria in Rome. If I understand the exact date of that event and if, as I believe, it activated the timeline described in Daniel chapters 10, 11, and 12, then the 1,290th day is on 19 April 2023 and “Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”

Further to this particular point, I believe I was shown a minor miracle on 20 October 2019 at Waynesville, Ohio which involved a bible turned to Luke chapter 7 that I was holding at the start of meeting when I closed my eyes was, upon my opening my eyes, showing Malachi chapter 4 – a very interesting chapter worthy of consideration.

If my expectations about the people involved are reasonably accurate, there are going to be two inaugurations in January – one for Trump and one for Biden. The Biden government would be recognised by the United Nations, its delegates would be seated at the Security Council, and they would request that about 20 to 30 million UN “peace” keepers be sent from China and Europe. I’ve heard rumours that as much as a division of Chinese troops are currently stationed in Western Canada under UN flag. Those troops would be told to disarm Americans. And, if they bring their own logistics tail, to feed the survivors; if they do not bring their own logistics tail, they will live off the food that Americans would have eaten, and many more Americans will die of starvation.

If I am interpreting scripture correctly, the “Sun of righteousness” represents an actual solar flare or coronal mass ejection, akin to the “Carrington Event” which would have done so much to help John Brown had he been ready to move a few months earlier in his raid on Harper’s Ferry. In any event, history records that all the telegraph wires were down, and some actually melted from the high level of power surging through them. If you have not heard about Faraday cages, you should do some research and think deeply about what digital things you want to have after the storm. The electronics of your power inverter won’t do well in a coronal mass ejection, or in any other sort of electro-magnetic pulse event, so plan accordingly.

What if it is all for nought? What if your preparations and planning and thinking are not actually needed and, like in past crises, nothing much happens, and it all blows over? Well, good news, I’d say, and you can keep prepared for whatever comes next. Because, whether you believe it or not, the system as you’ve known it is, right now, very fragile. It has been pushed, by those in power, over a tipping point. The economy is crashing, the second round of lockdowns are going to hurt millions of businesses worldwide, and the broken elements of the supply chain are going to kill tens of millions of people from starvation this Winter. So, in my view, whatever preparations you make are soon going to be needed and in use. Times are going to be hard.

We’ve had hard times before. Civilisation has collapsed before – in the Great Flood of 10,800 years ago at the end of the Younger Dryas when the major ice sheets all melted quite suddenly; in the Bronze Age collapse; and at other times. Byzantium was destroyed, Rome was destroyed, Babylon was destroyed, Egypt was destroyed. So don’t be surprised when your world goes through a storm. You’ve had many warnings and many reprieves.

If you aren’t ready, get that way. If you are ready, talk to your neighbours and friends and family. Figure out what you are going to do to stay in touch when the Internet is gone, when the dust settles, and when the world is a very different place. That day approaches.
